Am I the only one who panicked when a seal brushed past me at the Cofferdam job in Mobile
I was 30 feet down on a pier footing last Tuesday when a harbor seal came out of nowhere and scared me so bad I yanked my umbilical, so now I do a slow 360 sweep before every descent and I'm wondering if anyone else has had a run in with curious wildlife mid dive.
That "slow 360 sweep" thing is actually smart and I don't see many people talk about it. Problem is a seal can hold its breath way longer than you and it's probably just as freaked out as you were, so it's not like it's hunting you, it just has zero clue what you are. Also worth knowing they get crazy curious around bubble noise, so if your reg is screaming it basically rings the dinner bell for them lol.
