Blew a seal on a job in Port Arthur last Tuesday and almost lost a day of work

I was down doing hull cleaning on a dry dock in Port Arthur, nothing crazy just standard barnacle scraping. About 45 minutes in I felt something give on my left wrist seal, just a tiny tear at first then it started leaking like crazy. Water temp was around 55 degrees so it wasn't freezing but man that rush of cold water up my sleeve got my attention real quick. I had to abort the dive and go up to swap out the suit, which killed almost 3 hours because the spare was at the shop. My supervisor just shrugged and said 'that's why you pack two suits' but who actually does that on a routine job? Anyone else had a seal blow at the worst possible time and just had to deal with the downtime?

That "pack two suits" advice is a joke, nobody actually hauls a spare on a scrub job.

Who even packs extra clothes for a basic job anymore?
