Can we talk about using a zip tie as a temporary fin strap keeper?
My fin strap snapped on a job in Mobile Bay last month, and I looped a heavy duty zip tie through the buckle as a field fix that actually held for the whole 2 hour dive. Anyone have a better quick fix they keep in their kit?

Wait, you were diving in Mobile Bay... and the zip tie held for two hours? That water's basically soup with all the mud and current. I'm shocked it didn't just snap from the drag. I keep a hank of line like @lilys81 mentioned, but even that feels sketchy sometimes. A zip tie seems like it would just get brittle and pop under real pressure.

Zip ties are the duct tape of the dive world, right? My kit has a few tucked away for exactly this kind of "genius" move.

Nah, I gotta disagree with you there @grace_hunt84. Duct tape is way more versatile topside. For underwater fixes, I'm reaching for my spool of line every time.
