Debate: Trimix on shallow dives - waste of gas or safer approach?

I tried using a 21/30 trimix blend on a 90 foot wreck dive last month in Jupiter. Buddy gave me a hard time saying it was overkill and I was just burning money. But I felt clear headed the whole dive, no narcosis at all. On the other hand, my air consumption was way higher than usual and the blend cost me an extra $60 for the fill. Is the mental clarity worth the extra cost and shorter bottom time? Or am I just making things complicated? What do you guys think?

Started doing the same thing after getting narced bad on a 100 foot reef last summer. Totally worth it for the clear head and I actually feel safer being able to think straight if something goes wrong. Yeah it costs more but so does a bent brain.

Preach, @sage_park6. Same thing happened to me in Cozumel. Peace of mind is worth every penny.
