In my early days, we relied on rope pulls for communication.

Today's com systems are great, but I still teach new divers the old methods.

Still get tangled teaching it, honestly.

Wait, did you just say you STILL get tangled teaching rope pulls? How is that even possible after all this time? That's like a driving instructor forgetting how to signal. What part trips you up the most, the hand signals or the actual pull rhythm? I feel like if the teacher is confused, the students have zero chance in a real emergency.

Rope pulls seem simple now, but do new divers really get it? Like, in poor visibility or when gear fails, how do you practice so it sticks? I've heard stories where old ways saved dives. What's the toughest part to teach? Is it trusting rope over radios when things go dark?
