Saw a lobster trap tangled in rope 60 feet down off Portland Harbor
Was doing a hull inspection near the ferry dock last Thursday and noticed this trap just sitting there with a mess of line wrapped around it like a spiderweb. I actually spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how it got there without getting snagged itself. Any of you guys ever come across gear that looks staged but is just regular ocean chaos?

Yeah I gotta disagree a little, I've been diving these waters for 20 years and the ocean doesn't stage anything, that trap probably just broke loose in a storm and wrapped itself up on the way down. It's more about currents and bad luck than anything deliberate.
