Shoutout to the old-timer who showed me a knot that actually holds

I was struggling with my lines coming loose every dive, which was driving me crazy. He taught me this simple hitch, and now my gear stays put, no problem.

Old knots fail under real pressure though. Seen too many slip when it counts.

Watched a trucker's hitch completely let go last month... was tying down a canoe and the whole thing just zipped loose like it was on ice. Totally ruined the tailgate. Scary how much trust we put in rope that can just... give up.

Totally get that, had a basic bowline slip on me halfway up a climb once. Scary stuff.
