That job in the Houston ship channel last Tuesday was a real mess
We were doing a hull survey on a big container ship, and the current was way stronger than the charts said. My buddy Carl got his umbilical line caught on a piece of sunken debris at about 50 feet down. We had to cut him free and bring him up fast, which meant we lost a whole afternoon of work. Has anyone else had a current prediction be that wrong on a job?

Currents are usually pretty close on those charts in my experience.

Wait, are we looking at the same charts? The ones I've seen can be off by a solid knot or more, especially around points or inlets. Tried to follow one last season near the channel marker and got pushed way off course. It's wild how much they can guess wrong sometimes.
