Unpopular opinion: the intake at the Baytown plant is a death trap and nobody flags it
Dove that intake screen last Tuesday and saw the grate bars bowed out almost 4 inches with a hole big enough to pull a leg through, and when I asked the site guy he just shrugged and said it had been like that since spring, so has anyone else run into a station that just ignores structural damage on their screens?
Same deal at the old plant I worked, we had a screen on the north channel that was bent so bad you could see daylight through the frame. Told the shift lead, he said it was on the list, and that list must've been lost because two years later it was still bowed worse than ever. Water was pulling so hard around the gap you could watch debris just get sucked right through into the pump. Somebody is gonna get hurt and then all of a sudden it'll be an emergency.
