Watched a dive team pull a 3-ton prop blade off a wreck near Tampa Bay last Wednesday

They used a lift bag setup I'd never seen before (basically daisy-chaining three 500-pound bags) to float it up slow and steady, and now I'm wondering how many of you have used that trick for heavy lifts in current instead of a crane barge?

My buddy Mike tried something like that off Destin last summer... he was trying to raise a small concrete mooring block, maybe 1,500 pounds, with a pair of 250-pound lift bags. One of the bags tore on a sharp edge of the block, and the whole thing tilted sideways in the current... took him almost an hour to get the second bag detached and swim it back to the boat. Said he'd rather pay for a crane next time.

Yeah, that tracks. Lift bags are sketchy on anything with edges. Lesson learned, cheaper than a boat repair though.
