A shop in Boise told me to stop using thermal paste on every CPU, and now I can't decide if he was right
I was at a repair shop in Boise getting a replacement screen for a laptop, and the owner told me he stopped using thermal paste on most consumer CPUs because stock coolers are good enough and the paste just dries out after 2 years. Half of me thinks that's lazy and will kill chips in dusty homes, but the other half remembers all the dead fans I've seen from paste turning to chalk. Do you still re-paste every machine that comes in, or only when temps look bad?
