Am I the only one who thinks clients who hover make me forget how to do my own job?

Had a guy stand right behind me for 20 minutes while I swapped a failing drive and imaged his boot partition, and I kept second-guessing every SATA cable I plugged in. He meant well, but by the time I ran my verify pass I'd pulled and reseated the same drive twice for no reason. Do you all have a polite way to ask someone to step out while you work, or do you just put up with it?
