Hot take: thermal paste does not need to be replaced every 2 years

I used to swap paste on every machine that came into the shop in Louisville, till a Dell from 2016 showed up last week with factory paste still reading 68C under load. I pulled the cooler to show the new guy and the stuff was still soft, not chalky at all. We repasted maybe 40 rigs in the old days for nothing, a tube here and there adds up fast. If temps look fine and the fan is not screaming, leave it alone and clean the dust instead. Who else stopped repasting as a default?

I used to repaste everything like it was a religion lol. Bought a whole tube of MX-4 for rigs that were running fine. Now I just blow out the dust and call it a day.
