My old boss insisted on using canned air for every dust job, but a buddy in Denver swears by a $80 electric blower.
After the canned air froze a sensor on a ThinkPad T480 last winter, I'm starting to think he might be wrong, so what's your go-to method for a deep clean?

Agree with king.jordan about canned air causing hidden problems. That frozen sensor story is exactly why I stopped using it. I use a cheap USB electric blower now for my deep cleans. Pull the back cover, hit the fans with short bursts, and use a small paintbrush to loosen the caked-on dust in the heatsinks. Works way better and you never get that scary moisture buildup.

Canned air is a total waste of money for anything more than a quick keyboard clean. That freezing thing is no joke, I've seen it leave condensation inside laptops that causes real damage later. Honestly, a small electric blower is the move, it's way more powerful and you don't run out. For a deep clean, taking the back panel off and using a soft brush with the blower gets all the packed dust out of the fans.

Isn't a soft brush kind of the unsung hero of a deep clean though? I've been doing the same thing with a cheap paintbrush and it gets all that lint and hair out of the fan blades way better than air alone. Just gotta be careful not to touch any components with the bristles.
