Rant: A client in Denver swore their old PC was fine until I showed them the dust clog from 2011.
I pulled a solid brick of dust and cat hair out of the heatsink last week, and the CPU temps dropped by 40 degrees after a simple clean.

Used to believe cleaning was just for looks until I saw a similar dust monster in my buddy's gaming rig. The fans were barely spinning under all that fluff. After we cleared it out, his frame rates actually got stable for the first time in months. It's wild how much performance gets left on the table just from basic neglect. That kind of thermal throttling is a silent killer for old hardware. You probably gave that PC a whole new lease on life.

Used to totally ignore dust in my own rig until a friend pointed out the same thing. He showed me how my CPU fan was caked with crap and my temps were way higher than they should have been. Cleaned it out and my PC stopped sounding like a jet engine during games, lol. Honestly felt like such an idiot for not realizing how much that fluffy stuff was hurting performance. Now I set a reminder every few months to blow it out, it makes a huge difference.

Honestly, it's like people treat their tech like a fridge. They just expect it to run forever with zero upkeep. I see it with cars too, skipping oil changes until the engine seizes. There's this weird blind spot for maintenance on things we use every day until they totally break down.
