Shoutout to when I swapped a cheap PSU for a Seasonic on a client build
Been doing basic builds for small businesses around town for about 2 years now. Last month I had a client's office PC that kept crashing under load, random restarts mid-Excel work. Swapped out the generic 450w I threw in originally for a Seasonic 550w unit I had sitting around and the thing has been rock solid for 3 weeks straight. Anyone else ever had a cheap power supply cause weird issues that made you chase other parts first?

Honestly, I've swapped a ton of cheap PSUs and seen maybe one or two cause actual crashes. Most of the time the client just has some software bug or a bad stick of RAM. Feels like you might be jumping the gun blaming the PSU when there's a dozen simpler things to check first.

Dont overlook @the_derek's point though, cheap PSUs can cause weird intermittent crashes too.
