That old tech warned me about driver signing and I laughed

Guy I used to work with at a shop in Tulsa told me never force install unsigned drivers on HP laptops. Blew it off, did it anyway on a 2018 ProBook, bricked the bootloader in 20 minutes. You ever recover from that without a full board swap?

Did you try booting from a USB with the original BIOS recovery file? HP hides a recovery mode in a secret key combo, but it only works if the bootloader isn't totally dead. I've seen people flash the SPI chip with a Raspberry Pi and a clip. That's the only way I've pulled one back without a board swap. Takes steady hands and a lot of patience though.
