The UPS battery that turned my Tuesday into a whole thing
Last week I had a client call about their server shutting down randomly, I figured it was overheating or a bad drive. Got there and it was the UPS, the battery was swollen so bad the case was bulging. It was an older unit, maybe 6 years in a back office in Cleveland, and nobody ever checked it. Swapped the battery and ran a self test, but that got me thinking about how many of these I walk past on routine calls. Do you guys actually test UPS batteries on every visit, or just when the client complains? I'm trying to build a checklist so I don't get another surprise like that.
