TIL that 'refurbished' hard drive I grabbed for $35 had 8,000 power-on hours already

Threw it in a backup server and it died after 3 weeks, now I'm out the data and the money, has anyone else had bad luck with these cheap drives from eBay?

Oh jeez @ben402, 8,000 hours could actually mean it's barely been used, not that it's a red flag.
