Vent: An old guy at a flea market in Austin told me 'you fix the box, but you gotta talk to the ghost inside' after I explained a weird RAM issue.
He was talking about user error and software gremlins, and now I always ask 'what changed before it broke?' first, saving me like 2 hours of hardware diag last week, anyone else have a weird phrase that changed their troubleshooting flow?

I mean, that's a cute story but honestly it sounds like luck. Asking "what changed" is just basic troubleshooting 101, you don't need some cryptic flea market advice to figure that out. Starting with hardware is often faster anyway, because you can rule out physical problems quick. If you jump straight to software ghosts, you might waste a whole day on driver issues when it was just a loose cable the whole time. Maybe it's just me, but I've seen way too many problems that were just a bad part.
