Vent: I keep seeing techs skip the basic power check on laptops that won't turn on
Had a ThinkPad T14 in yesterday that another shop said needed a new motherboard... it was just a bad AC adapter. I always test with a known-good charger and a multimeter first. How many boards have you guys seen replaced for no reason?

Yep. Always check the simple stuff first.

Tbh it's the best advice. Spent an hour on a problem once and it was just unplugged.

Totally agree, that basic check saves so much time. I had a similar one where a "dead" laptop just had a blown fuse in the plug. It's crazy how often the fix is right there.
