Vent: I was fixing a water-damaged laptop at a client's house in Sacramento and their cat jumped on the keyboard, shorting the board completely.

Now I always ask if there are pets in the house before I start any on-site repair, but does anyone else have a good way to keep curious animals away from your work area?

Man that's brutal... I'm wondering if you charge the client for that kind of thing or if it just becomes a write-off. Like, whose fault is it really when their pet destroys the machine mid-repair? I'd be so mad but also feel bad for the cat.

Actually had a cat knock a laptop off my workbench last year, @veramartin. The repair was at my place, so it was totally my fault for not securing it. Client didn't pay a dime for the new screen.
