A rep at the supply shop in Mesa told me cured concrete keeps getting stronger for YEARS, not 28 days
I always figured that 28 day break number was the final word on strength, and I've been telling customers that for a decade. Guy showed me the actual curve, it keeps climbing slow as long as there's moisture in there, which is why the old slabs at my grandpa's place in Gilbert are still hard as rock at 40 years. So how long do you all actually tell homeowners before they can park a truck on a new driveway?
That matches what I saw at a pour off Southern out in Apache Junction, the 90 day numbers were already well past the 28 day break. Concrete keeps curing as long as it can pull moisture, so a slab that stays damp under the house pad is still gaining maybe 10 or 15 percent a year later. I tell folks 30 days for a car and 90 before anything heavy, then wait a full year for the RV.
