Slab in Kansas City crumbled on me last Friday
Poured a 20x30 patio last week and the edges started flaking off about 6 hours after finishing. I think I worked the surface too wet. Anybody had luck fixing that without tearing the whole thing out?

Flip that thinking around - troweling too early traps bleed water under the surface, which pops the top layer off when it dries. You might get away with grinding the edges down and sealing it, but any repairs on top will likely just peel again in a few months.

Oh man, @noah248 you're totally right - I had that exact same thing happen on a driveway job last spring and it flaked like crazy after a few months (learned that lesson the hard way). Grinding and sealing bought me a little time, but you're spot on about the peel coming back eventually.
