Am I the only one who thinks the ombre fade trend is getting way overdone?
I went to a hair expo in Austin last month and every single booth was pushing the same dark-to-light fade technique. One stylist told me 'you gotta offer it or you'll lose clients.' But I've seen way too many people come in with fried ends from other salons trying to do it quick. I had to fix one girl's hair last week that was so overbleached it snapped off at the shoulders. I'm sticking to lived-in color and shadow roots because they actually let the hair stay healthy. The fade can look good but it's not for everyone and rushing it just ruins hair. Has anyone else had to do damage control on bad ombre jobs?

Man, you hit the nail on the head. That whole rushed ombre fade trend has turned so many heads into a hot mess. I swear every other girl walking down the street has that stripey, overprocessed look where you can see exactly where the dark ends and the bleach starts. The worst part is when stylists push it on people who just don't have the hair for it, like fine hair or hair that's already been colored. You're right that shadow roots and lived-in color are way more forgiving and let the hair actually breathe. It's like the whole trend just skipped the part about proper technique and jumped straight to doing it fast for the Instagram shot.

Did you see that study on how drastic lightening weakens hair bonds, @sandra693?
