An older stylist told me I was overworking my foils and she was right

I used to saturate every single section with lightener and wrap them way too tight, then a 30 year veteran told me to leave more space and let the color breathe. Cut my processing time by almost half and got better results on my last 3 highlights. Has anyone else had a senior stylist call out a bad habit you didn't even realize you had?

Aren't those tight wraps what actually gives you that bright, uniform lift though?

Did you read that study about how tight wraps actually restrict the lightener from swelling properly? I think I saw it on a hairdressing trade blog last month.
