Appreciation post: A client in my chair yesterday said 'I just want to look like myself, but better' and it stuck with me.

I've been focusing so hard on trends, but that simple request is the whole point of our job. How do you guys approach that 'refreshed but not different' look for clients?

It's a great reminder to focus on the person, not just the style.

But style's part of the person, @palmer.val.

Real talk, the "better version" thing is harder than it sounds. @blair_gibson78 has a point about style being part of the person, but I've found the secret is in the small, invisible details. For me, it's about focusing on the canvas - a killer haircut with no forced layers, or a gloss treatment that just makes the natural color pop and shine without changing the base. Clients notice they look good but can't always pinpoint why, and that's exactly the win.
