Appreciation post: my first boss in Cincinnati made me wash brushes by hand for 2 weeks before I touched a single client
Back in 2011 at a little salon on Vine Street, my first boss handed me a bar of Ivory soap and a brush mat and said I would not shampoo a single head until my tools were clean enough to eat off of. Last week a new hire asked me why I still scrub my brushes by hand when the electric cleaner sits right there on the counter, and I caught myself sounding exactly like that old man. Does anyone else still do the slow version of a task just because it is how you learned it?
