Can we talk about that time a bride's mom changed my whole approach to updos

I was doing a wedding party in Charleston last spring, and the mother of the bride asked me to leave a few face-framing pieces loose instead of pulling everything back tight. I always thought a perfect updo meant zero flyaways, but seeing it on her with the soft pieces totally changed my mind. Now I almost always leave a little texture around the face unless the client specifically wants that slicked-back look. Has anyone else had a client request that made you switch up a technique you were sure about?

That's a great example. Did you find it works better on certain hair types, or is it a pretty universal fix for making updos look less stiff?

Totally universal fix! It works on my super fine hair and my friend with thick curls. Just loosens everything up without making it messy.
