Had to choose between Japanese shears and German shears for my first pro pair

I was at the supply shop last month and couldn't decide. Everyone says Japanese are sharper but German are tougher. I went with Japanese because I do a lot of point cutting and slide cutting. First week was amazing but I dropped them on the tile floor and now there's a tiny chip near the pivot. Has anyone else had this happen or did I just get unlucky with my choice?

Wait, why would you even want to mess with a warranty? Those things are basically a trap, you end up waiting on hold for an hour just to ship it off and hope they don't lose it. Half the time they claim it's "user error" or some vague nonsense and then you're out the money and the device. I'd rather just pay for a repair at a local shop where I can actually talk to someone and get it fixed in a day or two, even if it costs a bit more upfront.
