Had to choose between two different hair gloss treatments for a client yesterday

I had this client come in who wanted a subtle shine boost without actual color. So I'm standing there looking at my two gloss options one is a clear gloss that lasts about 2 weeks and the other is a semi permanent gloss that does add a tiny hint of tone but fades more evenly. I went with the clear one because she has this really nice natural ash blonde and I was scared the tone one would pull too warm. Big mistake. The clear gloss looked amazing for exactly 3 days but by day 5 she messaged me saying it was basically gone. She said it just made her hair feel nice but the shine was totally flat after a wash. Now I'm thinking I should've just used the tonal one and mixed it with a little clear to soften it. Anyone dealt with this where a gloss just disappears way faster than you expected?

Man I feel your pain. I had almost the exact same thing happen last month with a client who has this gorgeous strawberry blonde hair. I picked a clear gloss thinking it would be safe and it was basically gone after two washes. The shine just vanished and she was so disappointed. Now I always go for the tonal ones and mix them with a little clear to tone down the warmth if I need to. It lasts way longer and fades way more even in my experience.

Oh wait, tonal glosses actually don't last any longer than clear ones.
