I hit 10 years behind the chair and honestly feel like a fraud sometimes
I mean, I hit 10 years in March and everyone acts like I should be some master stylist, but I still mess up a balayage or struggle with a new technique every few weeks. Does anyone else feel like the longer you do this, the more you realize how much you don't know?

...the balayage thing though, I think we all mess that up sometimes because the training teaches you one way but every head of hair is different. That's not really being a fraud, that's just having texture and porosity throw you a curveball. Like when you learn foilyage and it works great on straight hair but then someone with curls comes in and it all bleeds through. That's not you being bad at your job, that's the industry selling you a technique that doesn't account for all hair types.

Is it possible the training itself is setting people up to fail on purpose? Not like a conspiracy, but more like the big brands sell these advanced courses that assume a perfect canvas. They don't teach you how to fix it when it goes wrong because that would mean admitting their products have limits. So you end up feeling like a fraud when really you're just working with hair that wasn't built for their system.
