My aunt told me to always cut curly hair dry, and I finally listened

For years, I was trained to cut all hair wet, but my aunt, who's been a stylist in Miami for 30 years, kept telling me to cut curly textures dry to see the true shape. I ignored her, thinking my way was more precise. Last month, a new client with tight coils came in, and on a whim, I tried my aunt's method. I saw exactly where each curl fell and how much weight to remove. The shape turned out perfectly balanced, and the client booked her next appointment on the spot. What other old-school advice have you all found to be surprisingly spot on?

My grandma swore by vinegar rinses for shine, and she was totally right.

My cousin's a hairstylist and she says the acidity helps close the cuticle after washing. It makes the hair reflect light better so it looks shiny. She told me to use apple cider vinegar mixed with water.
