TIL most salons don't actually check their color mixing under daylight bulbs

I was reading a blog post from the Bobbi Brown pro team last week and they mentioned how many stylists get inconsistent results just because they're mixing and applying under warm fluorescent lights. They said like 80% of color corrections they see come from lighting issues. I checked my own station and sure enough my bulbs were way too warm. Has anyone else swapped to daylight bulbs and noticed a difference in their formula accuracy?

Oh man, that explains so much... I used to wonder why my greens would pull totally different in the salon vs outside. Swapped to 5000K bulbs at my station and it's like a whole new world for mixing.

Dude, "whole new world for mixing" is right. I had the exact same thing happen with my blues and purples. For the longest time I'd mix up this gorgeous navy indoors and then I'd step outside and it'd look like a completely different shade, almost grayish. Switched to 5500K bulbs and it was like someone turned on the real color switch. Now I keep a daylight temp lamp right next to my color bowls and it's saved me so much headache. Makes a massive difference when you're trying to match a client's inspo pic.
