Vent: A bride's mom said my updo looked 'too 2015' at a fitting yesterday
She was talking about the tight, slicked-back look I did. Has anyone else had clients call a style dated, and how do you update classic techniques?

Calling a slicked-back updo "too 2015" misses the point. That clean look is a classic for a reason, it's about polish, not just a trend. Some styles stay good because they work.

But classics can still feel dated if they're not done fresh, you know?

Nah, hold on @roberts.aaron. You're saying it's a classic, but how do you separate a classic from a look that's just been done to death? Like, a slicked-back updo on Zendaya at a premiere is one thing. Seeing it on every bridesmaid at a suburban wedding in 2023 is another. Where's the line between timeless and just tired?
