Why does nobody talk about sanitizing your shear tension screw after a bloody cut
Six months ago my mentor Rosa in San Antonio said to pop out the tension screw and soak every piece of my shears after any cut that draws blood, and I rolled my eyes because I thought wiping the blades was plenty. Then a client flinched during a bang trim and I had to toss a $180 pair of Matsui shears because rust crept into the pivot and I could not get the action smooth again. Does anyone else break their shears all the way down for cleaning, or am I the only one who learned this the hard way?
Wait, you actually threw away a $180 pair of Matsui shears? That makes my chest hurt just reading it. I've been wiping my blades and calling it done for years, and now I'm sitting here staring at my drawer thinking about what could be hiding in those pivots. Rust creeping in and killing the action is my worst nightmare, so guess I'm buying some tiny screwdrivers this weekend.
