I finally paused The Godfather at the horse head scene and my roommate walked in at the worst time
We were 40 minutes into movie night at my place in Amarillo when he froze mid-step holding a bowl of popcorn and just whispered "is that a real horse" and I had to explain the whole thing while the movie sat paused, so now I need to know, does pausing at the worst possible moment ruin a classic for anyone else or is it just me?
Buddy of mine had almost the exact same thing happen with Jaws. His girlfriend walked in right at the part where the kid on the raft gets taken and she goes "wait why is everyone screaming at the water" and he had to stop it and give her the whole speech about how it was a mechanical shark that barely worked. Took like ten minutes and by the time he hit play again the mood was totally dead. She still brings it up every summer too, like it's his fault she walked in at that exact second. Pausing a classic at the wrong spot doesn't wreck the movie itself, it just wrecks the night, and honestly the horse head is one of the worst places to freeze because it looks fake as hell sitting there still.
