Visited a cabin in Vermont last month and their game shelf blew my mind

I stayed at this little rental near Stowe and the host had a whole wall of old board games, but the coolest part was a beat-up copy of Stardew Valley's board game hybrid they'd made their own rules for with sticky notes. They said they play it every snowed-in weekend, and now I can't stop thinking about how to bring that same energy to my own game nights at home. Has anyone else picked up house rules from somewhere unexpected and actually stuck with them?
