Had a close call with a sudden gust while lifting a steel beam onto a roof in Kansas City last Tuesday.

Honestly, I used to think all that wind safety talk was just paperwork. Then I saw a sheet of plywood go sailing off a third floor like it was nothing. That could have been a person, or a beam. You really can't take a calm day for granted up there, can you? It only takes one weird gust to change everything. Glad your close call was just a warning.

That "weird gust" you mentioned is the real problem. It's not the steady wind that gets you, it's the sudden change nobody sees coming. Have you seen any sites actually change their wind plans after something like that happens?
