Just realized most guys rig way too heavy for hoisting siding bundles
I kept seeing crane ops double-wrap and using 8-foot spreaders for 10-foot HardiePlank, but after trying a single choker hitch on a job in Spokane last Thursday, it handled fine and saved me 15 minutes per truck. Anybody else find simpler rigging works better than the textbook stuff?

That Spokane job got me wondering - was it a specific bundle weight or the siding length that let you get away with the single choker on that particular lift?

The Spokane load was 12-foot primed T&G cedar, bundles stacked 4 high. Weight was maybe 2800 pounds tops, not enough to stress a single 16-foot choker. Honestly I think people overthink this stuff, a 3/8 wire rope has way more holding power than most guys give it credit for. If the bundle is squared up and not shifting during the pickup, one choker is fine for short hauls like that.
