Stopped dragging the load on my 90 foot boom by slowing my swing one notch
Had a pick last month at the Port of Tacoma where a 6,500 pound HVAC unit kept swinging behind the load line no matter how easy I took the joystick. An old hand on the crew told me to drop my swing speed from high to the middle setting before I even broke the load off the ground. Tried it on the next lift and the thing came up dead level, no tag line needed. I run a Link-Belt 218 and never touched that switch in three seasons. Anyone else mess with swing settings for light picks, or do you just feather the stick?
Learned the same thing with my table saw, slowing the feed rate gives you way more control than trying to muscle it through. Funny how the fix is usually just backing off a notch instead of working harder.
