Swapped from wire rope to synthetic slings for a bridge job in Cleveland

I always used wire rope slings cause that’s what the old timers taught me. But last month on a bridge rehab in Cleveland we tried synthetic roundslings for a few picks instead. Way less weight to haul up the ladder and they grip the load way better without crushing it. Anyone else made that switch and noticed a difference?

Oh man, I tried synthetic roundslings once on a job in Pittsburgh and they got all frayed from the rough concrete edges. That's a thing you gotta watch out for, right? The grip is nice but I swear they pick up every little bit of dirt and grit on the site. Makes them a pain to clean. Still beats hauling wire rope up five flights of stairs though.

Hit it with a heat gun on low, melts the frayed bits right off.
