Worst week I've had in 15 years of running tower cranes...
Last Thursday the swing brake failed on a Liebherr 180 down at the Harbor Point job site and I had to hand-signal every pick from the ground for 3 days straight while the mechanic tried to track down a part, has anyone else dealt with a sudden brake failure like that mid-job?

Did you at least get overtime pay for playing ground guide for three days straight? That swing brake going out sounds like a real pain, especially on a Liebherr where parts are probably special order from another planet. Had a similar thing happen once with a brake on a Terex and we ended up rigging a temporary line lock just to keep the thing from spinning in the wind. Hope the mechanic at least brought you coffee while you were down there waving your arms around like a traffic cop at a parade.

Did the mechanic bring coffee? He brought me a lukewarm gas station hot dog on day two and called it even. Honestly, @the_spencer, I'd have traded overtime for a working crane and a dry pair of boots.
