The $18 beat-up typewriter that fixed my editing slump
I found this old Smith-Corona at a thrift shop in Fort Wayne last month. It was rusty and missing the 'e' key, but I figured why not. I've been staring at my laptop screen for two weeks, deleting every sentence I wrote. So I started typing my rough draft on paper, mistakes and all. Something about the physical clunk and having to use a pen to fill in the missing letter made me stop overthinking. Got 400 words of pure garbage but it was the most progress I've made since April. Has anyone else tried switching up their writing setup when you get stuck?

My grandma had an old Royal from the 50s that I dragged out during a total writing block in 2021. The ribbon was shot so I had to press hard and the letters came out all faint and ghostly, but somehow that made it easier to just let the words be ugly. Still have that stack of pages somewhere, theyre terrible and I love them.
