I used to drive 40 minutes to Goodwill hoping for deals, now I just scroll the free section on Craigslist while I eat breakfast
Three years back my Saturday routine was hitting the Goodwill on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie with $20 in my pocket, and I'd walk out with maybe a lamp and a scratched DVD. Now I sit on my couch with coffee and refresh the free section, and I swear the stuff people give away is ten times weirder and better. Last Tuesday a guy in New Paltz posted a working upright piano, you just had to haul it, and a lady two towns over listed 14 gallons of pickles because her canning club disbanded. I got a full set of winter tires for my Corolla off a dude who said he sold the car and just wanted them gone from his garage. My wife says I have a problem because I check the listings before I even check my email now. So what's the strangest free thing you actually went and picked up, and did it turn out to be worth the drive?
