Listed a 'free' couch on Facebook Marketplace and 47 people messaged me in one hour
I put my old green couch up for free last Saturday morning around 9am and by 10am I had 47 unread messages. The first person offered me $20 to hold it, then 12 people never showed up. One guy wanted me to deliver it 40 miles to a town called Millbrook for free. What blew my mind was the person who finally took it, she told me she'd already driven to 4 other free couches that day and every one was already gone. That's when it hit me, half these listings probably aren't even real or the poster just ghosts everyone. Now I'm wondering if I should've just paid the $25 dump fee instead. Has anyone actually gotten a free marketplace item without losing your whole afternoon?
