DAE used to outline every single chapter before writing a word?

I spent 4 years mapping out scenes like a blueprint until last month when I just jumped into a story about a diner in Tulsa and found the plot by writing it, has anyone else ditched planning for discovery writing?

Three full days of my life went into trying to outline a fantasy novel and I ended up just writing a scene about a guy buying bread. The outline is now buried somewhere in my google drive, probably plotting its revenge. But honestly, writing with no plan feels like running with no shoes, kind of painful but also freeing. I'll probably crash into a plot hole later and cry about it, but at least I'll have 40 pages of pure chaos to show for it.
