Had to pick between writing a sad ending or a happy one for my short story last night
I was working on this flash fiction piece about a guy who finds a mysterious key in his late grandma's house. I sat there for like 45 minutes debating if he should open a secret door to a whole new world (happy) or discover it was just a key to her old diary with a dark secret (sad). I went with the happy route and honestly it felt too cheesy after I typed it out. Now I'm wondering if I should go back and redo the whole thing with the sad twist. Has anyone else ever scrapped a whole ending after picking the wrong vibe?
