Shoutout to the 'write the ending first' trick for short stories

I used to get stuck on page one for hours until a writing buddy told me to just skip ahead and write the last paragraph first, it totally broke my block. Has anyone else tried flipping the order of their process like that?

I once wrote the last line of a mystery novel first and it turned out the butler did not do it, I spent three weeks trying to work backwards to make him the killer.

Man that is brutal. I've been there where you paint yourself into a corner and have to undo everything. Hope you eventually got it to work out.
