A friend in Denver called my password system 'lazy' and they were right
I used to just add a number to the end of my old passwords when a site made me change them. They pointed out that pattern makes it easy to guess if one gets leaked. Now I use a password manager to make a totally new 12 character password for each account. Anyone else have a bad password habit they had to break?

Wasn't it fine to just use a few passwords for everything? I mean, that's what I did for years. I'd have one for social media, one for email, and one for banks, and I thought that was safe enough. Then I read about how if one site gets hacked, they try that same login on all the other big sites. It really only takes one leak to mess up a bunch of your accounts. That's what finally got me to use a password manager and make a different long password for every single thing.

Honestly the worst part is when a site you forgot you even signed up for gets hacked.
